find out moreOur mission is simple. Bring the best South American experience possible. To do this we will always serve the best coffee we can, offer traditional food, sweet and savoury and provide a friendly relaxing atmosphere to enjoy it in.
South American food is full of flavour and surprises that will keep you coming back for more. We’re passionate about the unique flavours the tropical continent has to offer, from Arepas - a street food of Colombia and Venezuela, to the Açai sorbet eaten in Brazil as an energy giving breakfast or snack.
The atmosphere at Cafuné reflects the attitude of the South American people. While they may not be the richest people in the world they are certainly the happiest! From the Copacabana of Rio to the freezing mountain ranges of the Andes you will always hear a simple “hola” accompanied with a friendly smile.
Bonding and spending time with loved ones is often done around a dining table in south America, a trait somewhat lost over here in Europe where the busy 9 to 5 takes priority. People can often be seen meeting at midnight for a coffee in Buenos Aires where a catch up with a friend is more important than a good 8 hours sleep! At Cafuné we believe in a society that appreciates the diversity of cultures. We celebrate and embrace it in our business by our food, drinks and providing a friendly environment for everybody, young or old.
We are a family run business run by Lívia and Sean. Lívia was born and raised in Fortaleza, Brazil. A huge port city in the North East where there is an abundance of fresh seafood and amazing fruit juices. She also lived in Colombia where she fell in love with its people, music, food and of course coffee! She is still close with many new friends that welcomed her in with some hot coffee and a toasty Arepa. Sean, was born and raised in Preston, until he set off to South America. He travelled around Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. He eventually settled in Ecuador, teaching English. Here he discovered amazing ceviches, made from the freshest of tuna or prawns and flavoured with zesty limes. They met in Brazil and moved together to Buenos Aires – Argentina. Together they found many delicious sweet things. Dulce de leche (caramelised milk) and Medialunas (mini-croissants) are a common breakfast or afternoon snack with a coffee.
We are located in the heart of Preston. You’ll find us on market place, opposite the historic Harris museum.
